Would a Magnetic Filter on a VGA cable remove ghosting?
I recently purchased a vga cable for xbox 360 but am getting severe ghosting. Would putting one of those ferrite signal filters (and what are they actually called and where can I buy one) on it help or is that a problem with the shielding within the cable?
The problem, as the other answers state, it more likely with a termination at the monitor. If the cable were bad, i.e. broken or shorted, you probably wouldn’t get any picture. There should be a termination inside your monitor. This may be bad. I have seen some monitors with a switch to turn the termination on or off to allow the use of more than one monitor. You only want one termination so you shut them off on all but the end monitor. That’s not common but you could check.
